Sustainable Design

1. Green engineering- new efforts to make chemical engineering sustainable. designs of products are becoming more sustainable in the article "new trends for design towards sustainability in chemical engineering: green engineering" by J Gerna-Garcia. it explains ready-to-use tools to keep chemical engineering sustainable.

2. This room by HOK sustainable design uses water efficiency, energy efficiency, recycled materials and daylighting. this is a good example of showing how a beautiful space that is well designed can still be sustainable and good for the environment.

3 The solar refrigerator is designed to be energy efficient. Its design is very simple and could have been made more modern to fit the new style that has emerged. it was designed and introduced only a dew days ago, and won an award for being sustainable.

4. Cracklechute tunnel toy is a cat toy made entirely of recycled materials. the design is quite somple with a pop of red on the edges to add interest, but its still a fun toy for a cat to play with. who knew they made cat toys with recycled materials.

5. Baltix design company's logo is "green from the ground up" in which they use all recycled and environment safe materials for their furniture designs. the designs are modern and contemporary. Not sure if they are all very comfortable, but at least they are good for the environment.

6. This is the table in the last picture. it is made entirely of eco-friendly bamboo and I think it's pretty stylish. The color is really beautiful and would probably look nice in any home, yet it is made of sustainable products.

7. The two chairs are also made of green products and they range from 2000, to 5000 dollars for the pair. I like these chairs, but I'm not sure they are really comfortable. I would probably like them it they had arm rests. Also, they are a little too expensive for my taste.

8. The earth friendly bean bag chair located in the above picture is made out of soft hemp. I like this for a casual tv room or kids bedroom, but in my experience hemp isn't the most comfortable thing in the world. plus, for the price of 500 dollars im not so sure the chair is worth it.

9. The second image is organic fabric from furnature. it is really beautiful and would look pretty good as a sofa.

10. Also from Furnature is the Anson sofa. ( the first image) it's very classic and entirely organic with organic wood and fabrics. I like the curve of the back and arms, but I would never buy it just because it's not my style.
