For Professional Practice we were asked to choose our own topic for a research paper. The topic had to do with a current trend in the design field. I chose to write about health care design and design for the aging because my internship deals with senior living design.

After researching, I have found that the elderly population will nearly double in the next 20 to 30 years. this means that the demand for healthcare, senior living, and universal design will increase dramatically.

My paper takes a look at some statistics and covers information on the new technology that the elderly may use to make their lives easier. I hope to continue learning more about new technology and materials that will be beneficial when I become a professional and can work on spaces that affect this older population.

Networking 2

Second event I attended for my Networking assignment was High Point Furniture Market. Everyone should go to this event. Its a place for furniture companies, and design companies to showcase their newest work, and a great place to meet other designers from all over the world. Even though I have lived near High Point for many years, I have never taken advantage of what the market has to offer. It's a good learning experience to see the newest styles and products. All the companies seemed to be going "green" and using sustainable materials.

While there, I met lots of Sales representatives for different companies. I learned that the sales reps can be the best people to connect with. This is because they know many different design firms, and become friends with hundreds of different designers. This can be helpful when you are trying to look for a company that is hiring or a new client that needs work done.

Since I will be graduating in almost one month, it's important that I start to network with professionals. This way I can be updated on job opportunities and get a chance to see whats out there in the professional world. Last month, I attended design day for IIDA at Momentum Textiles. I was able to network with professionals from the Triad and show them my portfolio to get feedback.

In my drawings, I am experimenting with sketchup podium and hand rendering over the top. I like the effect that has occurred and plan to use this in my final renderings as well.

Mojud Mill Model

As part of my final semester at UNCG, I am designing a restaurant/bar/music venue located in the old Mojud Mill on Lindel road in Greensboro. For the beginning process, I have done a 2d section and now a model to help me interpret a concept and form for my space before I begin designing the building.

These are images of my model that I designed focusing on layers and revealing shapes. This represents the layers of the mojud mill that were added back in the 1930's, as well as the layers of graffitti and destruction that has occured since.

for my studio class, we took a look at what is considered a home and a house, a private space and a public space.

for our final, we were asked to design a space in a community that brings the people together in a way that they needed. I began by researching my site and interviewing the management. My site is RMIT village where I lived for four months. it houses many international students and has a strong sense of community. However, does not have a large space for gatherings. Therefore, I located the carpark on the Village site that is almost always empty.

The above images are my idea for an outdoor cinema and gathering space in the top level of the carpark. The projector rotates during the movie's intermissions and people must socialize and interact while moving to a different location to view the movie. In other times, the space can be a lounge and bar.

G'DAY! I've been in Australia the past four months ( hence the lack of posts) but finally have some time to post my work.

This class, Drinking In Detail, focuses on bar design and joinery details that create this design. We began by visiting five bars and drawing, mapping, and analyzing the details of each bar. we looked at the way people interact and the way the bar is put together.

After this, we were asked to design a bar using only one piece of joinery. which means, the bar. seating, and tables must all be connected to one another. we could have no free standing seating except a few bar stools, and no free standing tables or display cases.

above is some of my process...

the first images are my original idea. I wanted the wine display to be connection between the wooden structures, and the constrast in stains to provide interest. The tables were going to suspend between the timber as well.

then... I came up with another idea with more joinery.These images are from my first model we had to make... I wanted my bar to be a floating screen that was made from wooden slats moving around the space. the seating would be pieces that could fold out of the structure to move out or hide whenever needed.

Belk Building- Design Development 1

The concept of our design is Grafting. This is when one part of a plant is fused with another.
we used this concept to combine Albemarle with the surrounding local businesses to make it a better place. Above is the main floor plan, and below is the mezzanine and third floor levels. We would like to have a restaurant, event space, guest rooms, and townhomes in our space.

above is the section for the building. The guest rooms would be above the restaurant, and the town homes would be placed above the kitchen and event area.
This is an idea for booth seating that combines function with our concept. Three table would be combined into this form with a raised booth seating in the center. the booth is "grafted" into the other tables

This product is designed specifically for the elderly. It is a place for them to put their shoes on when they enter and take their shows off when they exit a space. Also, the drawers are designed to places hats, scarves, keys, purses, and wallets, so they don't misplace them. the detail shows a place for a cell phone to be charged. The materials include Pine and Metal rods. Colors can be changed according to specific customer.

Come Sit A Spell

This is my submission for the come sit a spell. I designed the piece in august as a seat that somebody can use to sit on both sides and view the garden. The outer pieces are made of wood, and the inner portion is rope so that it can be more comfortable and you can look through the cracks of the rope to the other side of the garden.

I plan on building this in the future so this is the first iteration. except to see something very different in within the next few weeks.

Hipster Haven: a shifting view

I designed this space with the hope that the loft would be the divider for all the other spaces in the apartment. it comes out from the back wall and bends down, making a space for the kitchen. and also separating the office area from the living area. By doing this I cam up with the concept of "shifting" because moving into a new space is a big shift in sombody's life. after coming up with this concept, it helped me think of an idea for my stairs, railing, and almost everything in the apartment.

Lighting includes a window above and to the left of every doorway and 2 skylights underneath the living room space. There will also be track lighting in the kichen and other artificial light sources throughout.
for the building that this complex will be placed, there will be indoor and outdoor porches. (above is an exampe of an indoor porch)
materials include polished concrete flooring, oak railings and walnut cabinetry. also, I will have recycled metal tiles for backsplash in the kitchen and the shower tiles.

A Place to Bathe

After researching private baths, I found that only royalty used to bathe alone. I took the idea of royalty, and my own interpretation of a "relaxing" bath and came up with this design.

The ramp circulates around the middle pool area to close off the center and make it more intimate and relaxing.

The pool in the center has four walls surrounding it to close the space in. Waterfalls also come down from the walls so their is sound within the space. The only lighting in the space is underneath the waterfalls because I wanted to keep the room dark and intimate.

The colors are all very dark to make the space appear smaller than it really is. There is one pop of color where the waterfalls are to add contrast. this color is purple, which represents the color of royalty.
When thinking about what I would want in a bathing situation, I felt that something closed in would be the most relaxing. This is why I created a room with enough space to allow for handicapped accessibility, but made it so the people can still be independent and relax all by themselves.

Upon entering the hammam, you will find yourself in a dressing room, or camekan, which is surrounded by private cubicles where you dress. Your attendant will give you a cotton wrap, or pestemal, and a pair of slippers, or terlik, along with a key to your cubicle.

then you enter a warm room with a raised stone platform in the center, surrounded by bathing alcoves in pretty colored quartz tiles. The tiles are said to remove static electricity from the air and help relax the mind and body. Then, the lighting is diffused through glass in the ceiling to be soft and relaxing.

The stone platform is heated to work up a sweat, and then you are led to a basin to cleanse yourself.

The concept for my design is "hidden connections." everything in my room has hidden connections with other aspects in the room.

The windows split the walls apart to create an invisible connection, the columns turn into beams on the ceiling like a hidden connection. Last, the colors are all mixtures of each other to create unity between them.

For Visual Communications we had to practice using photoshop by taking a normal image and turning it into something completely different with the inspiration of a victorian pattern. the pattern I chose had everything coming out from a central axis. I felt it was easy to do, and with more practice I will be able to work on photoshop more efficiently.

The establishment of software in the design world has allowed for people to communicate more efficiently, as well as making the process of design easier and faster. Computer programs related to architecture and design were introduced in the 1970’s but in need since the ancient times.

Starting in universities, the computer allowed architecture students to expand their knowledge of design. It then expanded into firms and businesses as a way to advance their product. CAD software allowed not only a greater outcome of work in the design business, but for architects to experiment and use different sources for the design process.

Computing in design has enabled designers to provide a clearer idea to clients, and communicate ideas through plans and elevations. As designers it is important not to place reliance on this software, but use it as a helpful component of the design process and presentation.

In the future, CAD programs will most likely continue to be updated allowing designers to become dependent on the computer rather than allowing their own abilities to be important.

Final Shelter Bus!

All the images above are process pictures for my Shelter Bus. The shelter bus is a bus for four relief workers to stay, and a place that will hopefully help out the community as well. I changed my mind over five times on the design of my bus because I felt my concept wasn't strong enough with the design. I needed to make the concept be a reflection of the overall design of my bus. First, I had a very plain bus design (from the top images) that was supposed to reflect "gravity" then I changed to a rotating bus that involved the concept of rotation, and then finally I came to the idea of Lustre. Most of the images above show my process of drawing on trashpaper, on the back of random pieces of paper, and also making little sketch models to help me become inspired with a good design.

These last images are the final product. The bus transforms outward (like my concept of lustre) and all the materials used reflect the idea of lustre as well.

Communication is about the process in which information is being passed from a sender to a recipient in order to create a shared understanding.

PLACE: This is a model of a booth that we would have at the Tate Street festival. It would reinforce the logo, as well as provide seating, like a bus shelter.

HTTP:// -The picture above would be an image that would rotate on UNCG's homepage. People may have noticed students walking around in t-shirts with the same logo, as well as posters. Seeing it on the website, they might think Oh, I've seen this! What the heck is it? When they click on the logo on the homepage, they would be directed to a series of images like the one above this one, which describe our studio and what we are working on:
PEOPLE- We felt that a t-shirt would get the message out if a lot of people wore them on the same day. It would get a question started in peoples' minds. What is this? Why is everyone wearing the same shirt?
PRINTED MATERIALS- We chose to design a poster to give more information about our program as well as about the Greensboro bus system. Featuring the logo, it would also function as a branding mechanism.

PRODUCT- wait ON a bus while you wait FOR the bus was our group's idea. Every Bus bench would be different and unique. It could have no limits to the design either, and would be placed all over Greensboro. (similar to the Big Apples in New York, or the cows in Kansas City), which would also function as benches at bus stops.

Artifact for IAR 222

The Mobile above was made by Alexander Calder in 1972, and given as a gift by the collectors committee. It is one of the first mobiles ever made, and consists of steel wire and aluminum. The aluminum is painted red and blue, with the wires connecting each aluminum shape with one another in a visually appealing design. The shapes are rounded and slightly geometric with thin wires to create contrast The negative space of this work is especially intriguing because there is so much negative space that the feeling of the mobile floating is very prominent. The mobile idea, invented my Calder himself, is successful in this sculpture because of its negative space. Also, the colors are important in this work because the primary colors are fairly bright against the dark grey wire, creating a contrast. One last thing that is interesting about this piece is the symmetry. It is unbalanced yet it still floats in a straight line. This makes the piece different from anything else before or after it.
One piece of work that is fairly similar to this mobile is the curtain by Marian Mahler. It is a red curtain with a print that consists of yellow, white and black shapes coming down from strings. This reminds me of the mobile because of the way it is suspended. Also, the colors are similar because the red background is bright and the colored shapes on the foreground are brighter and darker than the red to create a contrast just like Calder’s piece. One other thing I noticed was the negative space in this work. It isn’t the same as the mobile, but it was used with the same idea.
Le Corbusier’s loveseat is one artifact that is completely different from the mobile. It is a larger piece for one, but it also has no negative space. The chair is very grounded because of it’s size and shape. Also, instead of organic shapes and curves, this chair has only straight lines.

Ergonomics, Codes, and Proxemics

Ergonomics "helps designers understand how to best address the needs of the user through theory, data, methods, resulting in an optimized overall experience for users."

Proxemics is the interaction of people with other people. for example how close they sit to each other on a bench.

For studio 9-17-08 we had to draw our Shelter Buses and show the Ergonomics, Codes, and Proxemics of each design.

Essay about our experience:

Symbol group 6's experience with the various requirements to support human activities and needs at first was confusion and frustration because of misunderstanding the intentions of the exercise at first. Even after clarification, there was still a level of frustration because of the limits which caused several aspects of our designs to change. We also found that making a diagram was no longer quite as simple as it used to be. Suddenly we had to look up dimensions and numbers to apply to our diagram. We would recommend to other designers that they attempt to consider the needs of their clients and coding early on in the design process so that later on the changes won't be so drastic when they try and accommodate their design to fit the standards. This will save them a lot of problems later on. Codes help design by creating generalization and making people familiar with the objects the codes are applied to even if they haven’t seen these objects in that particular context before.The client will recognize a door frame for example because that is the size of a door frame in every other building they have entered. We anticipate that codes will change our work by making the design process more structured. This will both add to the ease and difficulty. With codes in place, suddenly we know the dimensions for our design, but it also limits to some extent what we can do. Keeping actual standards in mind means that we can no longer pick arbitrary numbers for a hallway.

Shelter Bus

Our group designed two buses that would provide two different needs for hurricane victims. The first bus is our "counseling" bus that provides counselors to victims. Our second bus is a damage prevention bus that will be available to people who need supplies during a hurricane. these materials would include wood, nails, water, batteries, and lots more. This project ws very hard to design because we were restricted to different bus dimensions. Also, the models were difficult to build with all the details.

Tornado shelter

This project was a lot of fun for me because I lived in the center of tornado alley for 12 years and I have experience a few times where i needed to shelter myself from a tornado. Our group (see bus shelter post) researched tornado shelters and found that monolithic domes protected from the wind. Therefore, we decided to design an underground shelter with a rounded top that came out from the ground.

For Studio 201, We were asked to design a bus shelter for the corner of Tate street and spring garden in Greensboro. My group members ( Sara, Alex, and Chelsea) and I came up with a simple design that allows people to be able to see the bus coming down the street, and still be sheltered from rain and other elements. Also, our design will be made with brick to represent the surrounding buildings and glass to tie the Gatewood and Weatherspoon buildings together.

You mentioned that the broken furniture does not get sold, and I think it would be beneficial to the interior architecture program if we were given the furniture or broken parts to create new pieces and designs in our studio classes and furniture design class.

City Bus Ride

For IAR 201, three of my friends and I rode the city bus to the downtown Depot and then back. The bus came fifteen minutes earlier than scheduled, and while I was walking onto the bus, I had a confusing experience. I was trying to pay for the bus ride, but the person who entered the bus before me (Meg) didn't pay the entire dollar and twenty cents, so I had to pay extra but I couldn't understand the bus driver. Then once we were all settled in the back of the bus, some creepy man kept trying to wave at us from the front of the bus.

I noticed while sitting on the bus, that everybody spread out from each other, and not one person was traveling with somebody else. If I had to ride the bus by myself I would not feel comfortable. Even when I rode with three other people, we were getting stares from the other passengers as if we were not welcome and did not belong.

Then while we were at the depot, we couldn't figure out what bus to get on next. The maps online were very confusing and only somebody who rode the bus everyday would probably be able to fully understand it. Eventually, Meg and I asked the bus driver which bus we needed to take in order to go back where we came from. The bus driver was very rude and looked at us as if we were stupid. I had to explain to him that it was for a school project before he would tell us what bus to get on.

On the second bus, the seats were different than what they were on the first bus. They were uncomfortable and had no cushioning so when the bus driver slammed onto this brakes, I would have to grip the seat with my hands to keep from falling over. Also, after I touched the seats and railings, my hands smelled funny. I thought the bus seemed really unsanitary. The man sitting next to Jenni Deal kept putting his hands on her seat and the other people around us were continuing to stare at us.

Once we reached campus, the bus driver drove right past the bus stop that we were supposed to get off at. I was so confused trying to figure out where to go. There were yellow ropes on the side of the bus and I wanted to try and pull the rope to get he bus driver to pull over and let us out, but I didn’t know if I was allowed to do that. The atmosphere of the bus was scary and I felt as if I would get in trouble if I did anything out of the norm. The fact that we were trying to take pictures on the bus was also a factor that didn’t help us out. We got more stares than usual and I could tell that one woman next to me was getting pretty angry. Jenni ended up taking a video the entire time because she didn’t want people to keep thinking that we were trying to take pictures of them.

In the end, the city bus was not the greatest experience. I am glad I rode on it though, because if I ever have to do that again I will be able to figure out what I’m doing. However, I would probably never ride the bus myself because I would feel unsafe.

The First Week of Classes- 2nd year studio

This first week has been stressful to say the least. I've been used to slacking all summer, so I wasn't quite ready for so much work. However, after I calmed down a little bit, I had a pretty good week. I am looking forward to studio this semester based on the first project. We worked with groups the past few days, and it has helped me communicate a little better. hopefully that's a sign for what's to come.

JAMES TURRELL

As our final for studio, my class was assigned clients to create a space in the third floor of the Gatewood building at UNCG. We had to include storage, bed area, entertainment, display wall, and work space. My client is James Turrell. he is an artist who focuses on light insulations and anything light related. most of his work is also geometric shapes. to start, I drew different cubes and triangles to try and come up with an idea.
then I chose this drawing as my favorite design to represent James Turrell and what he would like.

the above three images are my sketch models that I created to come up with a more final plan. as you can see, each one has a curve on the top and raised above the ground.

the above images are of my final model. I took out the curve to create more simplicity for james turrell. I also have an orange square going through the center to tie in the entertainment with the bedroom space. the space will be located in the southeast corner of the studio. it will be made out of mostly wood. also, the reason I raised the platform off the ground is to raise james turrell's view directly avobe the wall that lies in the studio. that way James Turrell will get a sense of being outside.

this is my final board and model for presentation.

My presentation went very well in my opinion because I was able to back up all of my design choices. I did everything in James Turrell's space for a reason.

ELSEWHERE

Elsewhere is an artist collaborative located in downtown Greensboro. in order to experience the overwhelming effect of walking into a place like this, I have drawn different things shown below.This is a drawing I did of my space that I blocked off in elsewhere. I used a "sketchy style" because the whole place seems to portray that type of style. there are so many items that it is nearly impossible to draw every single detail in the space.
This is a photo of the space that I drew. in my opinion, my drawing is more successful than the photo of showing exactly what the space is about because the style I used is slightly more chaotic.
Last, I drew details in the space, because I felt that when looking at the space, my eyes would narrow in on one object that had memories for me. some of these detail objects I used to have as a child, and I feel this is what makes Elsewhere so unique.

The details I drew also needed some color, because elsewhere focuses on color quite a bit. therefore, I did a before and after of color on two objects. The objects with color are more successful because they portray the feeling of being in elsewhere. everything is a different color and my eyes always narrow in on objects with the most color.

Being in Elsewhere was a really great experience for me because I started looking at art differently. In high school, I stuggled with the idea of "what is art" and elsewhere seems to be a place that takes you out of the ordinary "art" style and gives you a different interpretation of art.

It's hard to imagine that this pattern came from a Squash, but after examining patterns in the fruit I came up with a unique pattern that I based the following models off of.

These are pictures of my first idea for the model. I wanted very straight lines in a strange arrangement that could be turned any way and still be a 3d form.

Then we had to turn our model into an architectural statement. I decided that my form would make a great tunnel, so I cut one of the ends off of a triangle and added black to make the form more playful and interesting.

For my final model, I just wanted to improve the craft, so I used rubber cement and constructed it slightly different.

I am very happy with my architectural statement because it is unique and reflects my style of designing.

Terracycle Bottle Cap Competition

As part of design studio, our assignment was to create another use for plastic bottle caps that would be marketable. First, me and my partner Sara Zales had to search for bottle caps in recycle bins all around uncg campus.

For the original model, we made a picture frame/wall art piece from the bottle caps. We thought that something like this would be appealing to the people because it would look good on someone's wall and have meaning because it contained a picture.

However, it broke when our teachers decided to turn it into a Frisbee. :)

It was probably a good thing they broke it because we took the pieces apart and made our final model.
This is a candle holder made of recycled wire from one of my old projects and bottle caps found from all over Greensboro. I am very happy with the final outcome, because it is unique and something I would want to buy and place in my home.

As a part of drawing class, we had to split into groups and research one building on campus. my group was selected to look at the EUC. we had to make perspective drawings, diagrams, and detail drawings for the building, as well as make a display board to present our findings and drawings. I am very happy with the turnout of everything. My group worked really well together and we completed a unique board layout that was fairly successful when we presented in class. my only concern that I had with our board was the layout was slightly confusing because we placed a few interior drawings on top of the diagrams.

Overall this project was really helpful for me, because I had not made a display board before. I also thought working in groups was a good idea, because I learned to work well with others under stressful circumstances.

In studio we had to create a system using only a 2 x 4 and no adhesive. I am pretty happy with mine. However, I think I could have been more creative than I was. After critique I had a bunch of ideas of what I could have done, so maybe if i get some free time, i'll make another one.

We had to draw something messy for our first assignment back from break. I like all of mine because I think I did a good job of shading with pen. It took me a long time as well, but I think that's what made it turn out as nice as it did.

Final Time Capsule- full scale

Here is my final time Capsule! As you can see, I spray painted the outside a metallic to represent the metal, and the inside is different colored poster board to represent the acrylic.

Time Capsule Location

My Time Capsule is going to be located in the lobby ceiling. The lobby is about 28 ft high, so I want the capsule to hang down eight feet with steel cables, then be about six feet long. This way when people look up into the capsule, they can get a kaleidoscope effect.

Two New Technologies

Apollo Design Technology- Has created a product that will be used in retail design for hanging clothes and shelves. It looks like it would be very helpful. I work in a retail store so I like this design because organizing a store can be really hard sometimes.

Apex Design Technology- has created an electronic power up control rack which is used for controls in a storage space. This design looks like it would be very effective, but I'm not entirely sure if it'll help much.

Media Design- Book Covers

Thee Catcher in the Rye is a Great book, and the cover helps enhance the meaning and mood of the plot in the story. I like how it has a pop of only one color, and the color is symbolic for those of you who haven't read the book before.
I haven't read this book before, but i can tell that it's probably sad and sentimental based on the cover. the colors are neutral, and nothing is really bold. the image of one flower shows its going to be a beautiful story. (probably more for women to read than men.)
I like this cover because it looks like a painting almost. the style of the cover shows that it is probably a book for a young child or teenager. I also like how the cover gives away part of the plot of the book but not enough to understand whats going to happen.
I love this cover because it is very simple. The orange of the person pops in the blue background. Yet, both colors are very bold which may mean the book is going to be dramatic.
It is very obvious that this is a children's book. The colors are bright and fun. It makes the book very inviting and I'm sure kids are going to want to open it. also, I like the pop of yellow because it makes it easy to see the title.
Comic Books have really neat designs. I like how it shows lots of action, which is a window into what the comic is about. The colors are all similar and balanced, and I like the fact that this particular one looks like a drawing.
This Children's book is nice also because the colors are fun. The image shows what the book is about, and the different levels of depth make the image more interesting.
For those of you who have read this book, the cover is perfect because it gives so many hints about the book. I actually didn't like the book, but I think the cover is very successful because it reflects the writing and shows symbols and metaphors that are going to show up.
I like this cookbook, because the design takes from other artists. The Mona Lisa is used very effectively because the facial expression of her and the status she has in society will make people want to read the cookbook.
This book cover uses a dramatic photograph that I like a lot! it's probably one of my favorite covers because it doesn't give away too much. it only helps to enhance the title of the book. the text of the title is also effective because it looks "slippery" just like the title.

Several Design Journals

1. The English home, was a journal from england that I looked at while in the resource library in the Gatewood building. The magazine has a wide range of furniture design, and interiors of homes. The style seems to reflect the English style, which is very classic and slightly country. I like the setup of the magazine and the page layouts because they draw my eye through the pages.

2.Form magazine is a design journal from Germany, that can be translated into English. I like this magazine because it offers concepts, models, and prototypes for new designs. The most recent cover is actually a design of some kind of rocket ship. I think it's a neat magazine because it shows all aspects of design. some of the interiors are really cool, because the style of the designs are similar to America.

3. Harvard design magazine is a great magazine to read, but not to look through really fast. I like pictures to be able to looks at, however this magazine seems to be more about the design concepts and the students at Harvard university.

Ten Interior Environments

1. The new majestic hotel in Singapore is one of the most interesting interior spaces that I have ever seen. the colors are very contemporary and the furniture is all very unique. what makes the hotel rooms different from normal is that they have more space, two levels, and each room is different from the other. also, I like the lighting in each space because some of the beds are lit from underneath.

2. The rooms of the Delano hotel in Miami Florida is amazing because the entire room is white. all except for accents of green plants. This is very effective because the white reminds the people of the beach while the green helps tie in the outside view with the inside. The design of the room is contemporary with lots of open space and it is quite functional.

3. I chose the interior of the Peter B. Lewis Building Because the concept is very compelling. it is a building on Case Western reserve campus in Cleveland, and the building is used for buisiness, the outside of the building goes into the inside and the free flowing walls are supposed to represent the way their business major works. Also, the colors inside are neutral in order to enhance the architecture and design.

4. In Pandan Valley apartment, the minimalist style is used, which I like a lot, but don't think it's very functional. the rooms have soft fabrics but hard edges on the furniture, that doesn't look very comfortable. the one thing I do like is the entryway windows because they seem to be the focus of the room, as well as the modern column made into a bench.

5. one of the interior environments of RS&H is really nice because it is balanced. they have a screen wall that is translucent frosted glass with a unique design of stainless steel. I also like the counter top and how it curves, but i think if the walls curved or if there was other curved elements of the room, that it would all fit together better.

6. wow, wow, and wow, This is the coolest interior of an airplane I have ever seen. it would be so neat to fly in this airplane. the curved shapes of the overhead storage, compliment the actual shape of am airplane. also, the modern style of a plane like this is very unique.

7. This is the interior of a contemporary house. I like it because it is more realistic for someone to actually live there all the time. it is very spacious, but the shelves and furniture look as though they would hold a lot of storage.

8. The inside of the Guggenheim museum in New York is also a great interior space, because the designer ( Frank Loyd Wright) took into mind that it was a museum. The circular wall of the museum allows somebody to walk trough the space. each curve shows the person where to go next. the only thing I don't like is that it would be hard to place artifacts and paintings on curved walls.

9. The living room from interior-design.us is nice, but I don't like the style. The pop of color makes it unique, however it isn't different enough. I like things that are out of the ordinary and I feel the colors, and furniture are something that could be in any home.

10. From the interior design show of 2001, there is a space with a water feature in it that looks almost like a pond. I really like this because it adds a contrast to the contemporary style of the rest of the room. everything is clean lines and colors, and then the gold sculptures and candles in the water add a contrast.
